Buchart Horn Architects (BHA) performed a study associated with the maintenance garage at the I-78 toll facilities in Easton, PA. The existing facility was constructed by PennDOT in 1980 and later transferred to the DRJTBC. The study was completed to enhance operational efficiency at the location. BHA performed an analysis of current uses and needs as well as projected needs to house the equipment and resources required to provide operational and maintenance services at the location. Site visits were conducted to view existing uses, vehicles, equipment, and supply storage areas and interview operations and engineering staff to ensure all aspects of needs and uses were addressed.
Scope of services included:
Architectural services
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
Life and safety improvements
Incorporating Building Management Systems to reduce energy uses at the facilities
The Study also included the additional following tasks:
Source water protection devices for the potable water system
Lightning protection systems for the entire facility
Roof replacements for all buildings to include toll booths and visitor center
Upgrades to toilet facilities in the visitor center
Potential cover and access from the administrative building to the toll plaza for staff
The study included the coordination of information for the potential storage of a portable stacking conveyor for salt building.
